Blown from a single piece of borosilicate glass, the final shape is achieved with high level of accuracy. The Hourglass by Marc Newson contains millions of tiny solid spheres made of stainless steel coated with fine gold or silver. Each and every one is precisely 0.6mm in diameter.

When the Hourglass is inverted, the precision balls fall and bounce in an erratic but truly mesmeric way. Marc Newson’s signature is applied onto every Hourglass as they leave the workshop in Basel, Switzerland.
